Apache Seagraves NFS Open House |
Many folks might not realize that a good portion of what we do is behind the scenes presentations, letter writing, phone calls and more.
We had a wonderful opportunity to spend time with the National Forest folks at Apache Seagraves outside Springerville, Arizona when they recently held an open house event.
Lucky for us it was held on a Friday afternoon which meant we could turn the long drive from Phoenix into a weekend campout.
Another bonus was the fact that when we arrived the place was near empty which resulted in the NFS people present coming outside to meet us and check the FJ Cruiser and it’s modifications for the disabled.
Before long we went inside to spend some time talking about the Travel Management Plan they were working on, answer quiet a few questions they had about handicapped access to the backcountry, talk about how to work together more in the future and generally have a great meeting.
It is important to realize these folks are trying their best to do as much as possible for all land users while working with a fraction of the money they really need. We understand that there is a need for balance between wilderness and motorized access, and it was nice to give them a group to work with for future questions or issues. |
